{"id":473,"date":"2013-05-22T19:39:36","date_gmt":"2013-05-22T19:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.airscene.co.uk\/news\/?p=473"},"modified":"2013-05-22T19:40:05","modified_gmt":"2013-05-22T19:40:05","slug":"bloodhound-missile-acquisition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.airscene.co.uk\/news\/aviation-news-uk\/aviation-museum-news\/bloodhound-missile-acquisition\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloodhound Missile Acquisition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After several failed attempts the Newark Air Museum has finally been able to secure a long-term acquisition target in the shape of a Bloodhound surface-to-air missile.<\/p>\n<p>This recently acquired missile was transported to the museum&#8217;s site on the former RAF Winthorpe airfield in Nottinghamshire; close to the border with Lincolnshire on Tuesday 21st May, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>After refurbishment the Bloodhound missile will be displayed alongside the museum&#8217;s Type 86 Radar Cabin, which recently underwent an external repaint. This is a complete cabin that was acquired several years ago from the Royal Radar and Signals Establishment and is believed to have carried the codename \u2018Indigo Corkscrew&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The museum also displays a Thunderbird surface-to-air missile, which was acquired several years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Some key items are missing from the new acquisition and the museum is hopeful of sourcing these items in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newarkairmuseum.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.newarkairmuseum.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After several failed attempts the Newark Air Museum has finally been able to secure a long-term acquisition target in the shape of a Bloodhound surface-to-air missile.
