{"id":2849,"date":"2024-04-23T13:01:33","date_gmt":"2024-04-23T13:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.airscene.co.uk\/news\/?p=2849"},"modified":"2024-04-23T13:01:33","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T13:01:33","slug":"royal-international-air-tattoo-experiencing-unprecedented-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.airscene.co.uk\/news\/aviation-news-uk\/uk-airshow-news\/royal-international-air-tattoo-experiencing-unprecedented-demand\/","title":{"rendered":"Royal International Air Tattoo experiencing unprecedented demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.airscene.co.uk\/article-images-24\/RIAT23.jpg\" alt=\"RIAT 2023\" border=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 Last year 150,000 people visited the event based at RAF Fairford<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> \u2022 Less than 10,000 tickets remaining for Saturday 20th July 2024<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> \u2022 Over 80 aircraft already confirmed for this summer\u2019s show with weekly additions<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> \u2022 Free admission for those under 18-years-old<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interest in this summer\u2019s Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) has reached record levels with the show on track for its earliest ever sell-out.<\/p>\n<p>The event, which is taking place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st July, is the world\u2019s largest military airshow with over 250 aircraft involved in last year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n<p>So far there have been 86 aircraft unveiled to take part in this year\u2019s event, including international display teams, large transport aircraft and a variety of helicopters.<\/p>\n<p>Every week new aircraft are added to the line-up as the show celebrates 50-years of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, 100-years of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and 75-years of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, organisers announced Saturday had sold out in early June but with unprecedented interest ahead of this summer, organisers are thrilled with levels of interest.<\/p>\n<p>All proceeds from RIAT are donated to the event\u2019s parent charity, the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, a forward-looking charity aiming to inspire the next generation of aviators, which received almost \u00a32m from last year\u2019s aviation showcase.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive Officer for Royal Air Force Charitable Enterprises, Paul Atherton said: \u201cRIAT is a world-renowned event which takes place in the heart of the Cotswolds and we are proud to deliver it every year.<br \/>\n\u201cNot only do visitors come from all over the country, they travel from across the globe to see what we put together at RAF Fairford.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe support for this year has been incredible and we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone in the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With an operational theme of \u2018Pushing the Boundaries in Air and Space\u2019, this year\u2019s RIAT gives people the opportunity to get up close and see aircraft they\u2019d never normally have access to.<\/p>\n<p>One example is the British Antarctic Survey\u2019s Twin Otter aircraft, which usually operates in the polar regions collecting scientific data and will be on static display this summer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s theme means we are expecting some unique aircraft which operate in unique areas and it really demonstrates the role of aviation, whether that is in defence, transport or scientific work,\u201d added Paul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you haven\u2019t been to the event before, or are starting to make plans for the summer then we are an event that accommodates for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are available via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.AirTattoo.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.AirTattoo.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2022 Last year 150,000 people visited the event based at RAF Fairford \u2022 Less than 10,000 tickets remaining for Saturday 20th July 2024 \u2022 Over 80 aircraft already confirmed for this summer\u2019s show with weekly additions \u2022 Free admission for those under 18-years-old Interest in this summer\u2019s Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) has reached record &hellip;
