Harrington Aviation Museum

The Harrington Aviation Museums comprise the Carpetbagger Aviation and Secret War Museum and the Northamptonshire Aviation Society Museum.

These museums offer a rare look at life on this Top Secret base of the 801st/492nd American Eighth Air Force Bombardment Group during World War 2.

Photographs and exhibits vividly present details of Operation Carpetbagger and the secret war carried out by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and the American Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in supplying resistance groups in Occupied Europe with weapons, equipment and secret agents from both Harrington and Tempsford airfields during World War 2; The Thor IRBM nuclear armed rockets that were at Harrington during the 1959-63 Cold War period; The history of the Harrington airfield; The Royal Observer Corps from its inception in 1925 through to it's stand down in 1991; Air war and the Home Front in Northamptonshire along with other items of similar interest.
